21 of the Best Baby and Toddler Costumes for HalloweenWith Halloween right around the corner, it’s usually our job as a mommy to decide what to do about costumes for our little ones.
If you’re a toddler mom, this decision is much more difficult than if you have a baby. Your toddler’s costume needs to be, well…toddler-proof! She needs to be able to move in it comfortably, it should be warm enough that she won’t have to wear a jacket over it, and it should be somewhat weather resistant (at least in my climate zone.)
Remember the plastic costumes we wore when we were kids?
They fulfilled all of those criteria. I put on my Casper the Friendly Ghost mask (I can still remember its warm plasticky smell) and my mom tied the plastic ghost costume together over my normal clothing (which was great if you needed to wear a coat under it) and I LOVED that costume!
Isn’t it pointless to dress up a baby?
I can remember loving that costume so vividly because my parents took a Polaroid picture of me in it…ah…the pictures! If it hadn’t been for the pictures they took, I probably wouldn’t remember that Halloween at all because I was still so young. Old pictures are the best reminders for your family of how things were at a certain point in time – especially holidays when the kids were still really young and life was so crazy! Which is the reason why I am a fan of dressing up even the smallest baby for her first Halloween. The photo you take of her all dressed up like a cutie-bear (or scary-bear) will be a keepsake for your family for all time.
Should I make my own?
There are amazing moms out there who can wield a sewing machine like a pro and make the best costumes EVER! Some moms insist on making their own either to save money or because they feel it’s their duty as a “good mom” to do it – and that’s really AWESOME! But if I made my kids’ costumes myself, I would be stressed-out coming up with an idea, then disappointed with the results, and it would cost me twice as much as if I had bought one over at Amazon.
Not everybody got time for that…
Whether you’re staying home with Baby handing out candy or trick-or-treating with your toddler, I’ve done the research and created a roundup for you of the best costumes you can buy at Amazon. Not only are these costumes absolutely adorable, they are also practical. This way, you don’t have to stress about costumes because you know your little one is going to look amazing in their costume and you can exhale and skip straight to the fun part. Plus, for us last minute mommies: if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can even have the costumes delivered to your doorstep within 2 days for FREE!
Which is your favorite? My Thea will make the perfect Snow White while Sven would be an awesome Sully! But don’t wait too long – I’m already noticing the prices rise as Halloween comes closer.
So tell me! Which toddler or baby costume do you like best?
